چکیده

WASPAR (Wide-Angle reflection–refraction Seismic data Processing And Representation) is a new free multi-platform software tool to process and display wide-angle seismic data. It has been designed to read different raw data formats, construct record sections, process them using existing and newly developed algorithms, pick seismic phases and generate graphic files using a single, user-friendly interface. The main characteristics of WASPAR are its flexibility and expandability. It has been designed in a modular way using a plug-in architecture to manage raw data access and processing functionalities. We thus obtain a stable base easily maintainable and expandable. We have chosen the Cþþ programming language in combination with an object oriented methodology to facilitate the development of a multiplatform software tool, which is already available on Linux and MS Windows. In order to allow its expansion and upgrade, the program will be freely distributed under the terms of GPL license. The philosophy of this software tool is to leave it open to external contributions. r 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Adaptation of the Application Waspar to New Linux Dis- Tributions

In this paper we present the process of adaptation of WASPAR, a free software tool that processes and displays wide-angle seismic data. It originally worked in an early version of Fedora, so the intention was to make it compatible with more Linux distributions, such as new versions of Fedora or Ubuntu. Further adaptations have been planned, so it can also be used in a Windows environment. 1.Int...

A new software tool for wide-angle reflection/refraction seismic data processing and representation (WASPAR)

The seismic methods are the most powerful existing technique to image the structure of the Earth’s subsurface. Depending on the system layout, the seismic methods can be divided into near-vertical reflection (NVS) techniques and wide-angle reflection/refraction (WAS) techniques. In contrast to NVS, the development of WAS preprocessing tools has deserved only minor attention to date and most exi...

Seismic imaging of continents and their margins: New research at the confluence of active and passive seismology

Now that the world has well and truly crossed the threshold to the 21st century, it seems timely to review the progress of lithospheric seismic imaging and comment on recent developments in the field. In the context of this special issue, lithospheric seismic imaging refers to any kind of seismic study that gives rise to multidimensional (2-D or 3-D) views of the Earth's interior, from the shal...

Determination of Lithospheric Structure and Evolution from Seismic Refraction and Reflection Techniques: Studies of the Southern Rio Grande Rift and Tokai Region of the Nankai Trough, Japan

This dissertation consists of four research topics, addressing three different scales of crustal-scale seismic data analysis. At the large scale, this research involves determining the lithospheric crustal structure across the southern Rio Grande rift (SRGR) from a 205 km long refraction/wide-angle reflection profile across southern New Mexico into Far West Texas acquired during the Portillo Vo...

Synchrosqueezing-based Transform and its Application in Seismic Data Analysis

Seismic waves are non-stationary due to its propagation through the earth. Time-frequency transforms are suitable tools for analyzing non-stationary seismic signals. Spectral decomposition can reveal the non-stationary characteristics which cannot be easily observed in the time or frequency representation alone. Various types of spectral decomposition methods have been introduced by some resear...
